Carbon copy and Blind carbon copy : Carbon copy (abbreviated ‘Cc’) is a copy of a message sent to secondary recipients other than the primary recipient. In this case, every recipient will know to whom all the mail has been sent. The Blind Carbon Copy (abbreviated ‘Bcc’) is used for a secret recipient. The primary and the Cc addresses do not get to know that the message has been sent to anyone else. The Bcc recipient sees the main message and all intended recipients.

1. What is the internet? Why is it considered a valuable tool?
Answer : The internet is the largest computer network in the world, connecting millions of computers to each other through cables, satellites or other means so that they can easily communicate and share files and other resources.
Internet is a valuable tool as it is a major medium of communication where people can create and utilise vast information available on it. One reason for the popularity and explosive growth of the internet is its low cost and high speed. The internet has a myriad of services running on it including email, chat, video conferencing, etc that have changed the way we learn, teach, buy things, communicate and so on.
2. Name the different parts of an email address
Answer : An email address consists of three parts. The first part is the username. The second part is the @ symbol. The third part is the hostname or the location of the email account on the internet.

4. Discuss any two benefits and two drawbacks of video conferencing
Answer : Two advantages are :
i) Reduction in travel, time and costs. The cost of airfare, restaurant meals, travel time can all be saved by conducting meetings using video conferencing facility.
ii) Meeting Participation. Geographic location does not restrict the attendees. All those who can benefit by meeting can participate in the meeting.
Three disadvantages are :
i) Requires fast and stable internet connection. Videoconferencing requires a fast internet connection otherwise bandwidth issue could cause the sound or video to be temporarily lost.
ii)Time Zone. Depending on where you are in the world it may be difficult to get everyone on the same page when scheduling a session.
iii)Expensive. A set of quality reliable video conferencing system can be expensive
5. What are blogs? List its three basic characteristics.
Answer : A blog or a web log is website where people post entries about their personal opinions, hobbies, etc in the form of an online journal.
Three basic characteristics of a blog are
i) A blog is usually a single page of entries
ii) A blog is usually written by one person knows as the blogger.
iii) A blog is usually public so that anyone can see.
6. Apart from an internet connection, what does a person need to have in order to receive email messages?
Answer : Apart from an internet connection, a person needs an email address in order to receive email messages.
7. What is the difference between replying to an email and forwarding it?
Answer : Replying to an email means responding to the original sender of the mail. In a reply, the subject field is preceded by “Re:”
Forwarding an email is to send an email that you received to another person or group. In a forwarded message the subject field is preceded by “Fwd:”

Answer : Search engine is a special information retrieval program designed to find information on the computer system especially on the internet.
The internet contains a huge amount of information. Search engines help us to quickly and easily find information without the need to wade through numerous irrelevant web pages.

Answer : Chatting is the exchange of typed conversation between two or more people in either a public or private place. Chatting has gained so much popularity because it a real time two-way communication while most other forms of communication on the internet are one way.

Answer : Shareware, a proprietary software us a try it before you buy it software. It can be downloaded and tried for sometime. Such softwares offer only limited abilities for a limited time (usually 30 days).

22. Why do people write blogs?
Answer : People write blogs to share their ideas and opinions with people around the world.

Answer : Three advantages are
i) Shopping on the internet is fast and easy
ii) The internet is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of a year.
iii) Purchases made over the internet are usually cheaper.
iv) You get your goods delivered right at your door step.
Three disadvantages are
i) Customers cannot feel or smell the things before buying.
ii)Except for purchases like software, you cannot get things as soon as you buy them. People get their purchases delivered within 2-3 days.
iii) Many people fear about the security of information and payment details, as payment details( like credit card details) might be misused while transmission over the internet.
