Remembering the Holocaust: A Lesson for the Present and the Future

Presented during the Morning Assembly on 26th March 2025

Student Presenters : Luyin Aier  9A and Hentong T. Konyak 9A

Teacher in charge : Sir Imlitemsu

“For the dead and the living, we must bear witness.” — Elie Wiesel

During the school morning assembly on 26th March 2025,  students and staff reflected on one of the darkest chapters in history—the Holocaust. This powerful presentation served as both a memorial and a reminder of our responsibility to stand against hatred, intolerance, and injustice.

The Holocaust was the state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime. Others—including Roma, people with disabilities, political prisoners, and more—were also victims of this genocide. The assembly traced how discrimination gradually escalated from laws and exclusion to segregation, deportation, and mass murder in concentration camps.

“To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time.” — Elie Wiesel

Students were reminded that the Holocaust didn’t happen in a single moment—it unfolded over time, with indifference and silence allowing hatred to grow. The presentation encouraged everyone to learn from the past and take action in the present.

📸 Message of Hope: The assembly ended with a commitment to be upstanders—people who speak up against injustice and promote kindness and inclusion.

Class 9A also presented a group song titled ‘We Are The World.’

✨

 Reflections by the Chairman:

After the student-led presentation, the Chairman of the school addressed the assembly with a heartfelt reflection. She reminded the students and staff that hatred—when left unchecked—can grow silently in our hearts and lead to the kind of cruelty witnessed during the Holocaust.

She emphasized that we must never nurture hatred in our lives—whether it is toward individuals, communities, or nations. Speaking from a place of faith and compassion, she quoted the teachings of Jesus Christ, who came as a messenger of love, peace, and inclusivity. The Chairman reminded us that Christ welcomed all people, regardless of their background or status, and taught us to “love one another as I have loved you.”

Her reflection called on everyone to embrace those values in daily life, to reject prejudice in all its forms, and to build bridges of understanding and kindness.

Carrying the Message Forward

This assembly was not just a lesson in history—it was a call to action.
Let us choose love over hatred.
Compassion over cruelty.
Unity over division.

By remembering the past, we help protect the future. Together, let’s build a world where every individual is valued, included, and safe.

Empowering Young Minds: A Talk on Financial Literacy for Students

Assembly Presentation on 25/3/25- Grace & Ishaan, Class 10D. Teacher i/c Sir Shyam Thapa, Maths Dept.

In today’s fast-paced world, where money decisions are a part of everyday life, understanding the basics of financial literacy has become more important than ever. In a recent school presentation titled “Financial Literacy for Students: The Basics of Saving, Budgeting, and Spending”, students Grace and Ishaan of Class 10 D guided their peers through the essential skills of managing money wisely.

The talk began by addressing a simple yet powerful truth—everyone uses money, but not everyone knows how to manage it well. Whether it’s buying snacks, saving for a school trip, or budgeting pocket money, the importance of smart financial habits was made clear through relatable examples.

Grace and Ishaan introduced the three pillars of financial literacy:

  1. Saving – Putting aside money for future needs.
  2. Budgeting – Planning how to use money wisely.
  3. Spending – Making thoughtful decisions before using money.

They explained that financial literacy is more than just knowing how to handle money—it’s about making informed choices that lead to a stable and secure future. Students learned that building smart financial habits early in life can help prevent debt, foster independence, and create a solid foundation for future responsibilities.

The presenters shared practical tips for saving, such as:

  1. Setting clear goals, using the 50-30-20 rule (50% for needs, 30% for wants, and 20% for savings),
  2. Using a piggy bank.

Budgeting was presented as a vital skill that helps in tracking income and expenses, setting realistic limits, and avoiding unnecessary purchases.

When discussing smart spending, Grace and Ishaan encouraged students to differentiate between needs and wants, follow the 24-hour rule before making purchases, compare prices, and avoid peer pressure spending. They also emphasized the value of investing in quality rather than just price, and how small changes in daily habits—like reducing waste—can make a big financial difference.

The session ended on a powerful note with a quote by Warren Buffett: “Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.” This sentiment encapsulated the essence of the talk—be intentional, be mindful, and be prepared.

This informative and engaging presentation left students better equipped to make wise financial choices, setting them on the path to becoming financially responsible individuals.

The Science Behind Air Purification

Our students have explored an innovative and eco-friendly way to purify air using cotton, charcoal, and grass. Their project demonstrated how simple, natural materials can help remove pollutants and improve air quality.

Cotton – The First Line of Defense
Acts as a filter, trapping dust, pollen, and dirt to prevent respiratory issues.

Charcoal – The Toxin Absorber
Absorbs harmful gases and odors, ensuring cleaner and fresher air.

Grass – The Natural Air Enhancer
Releases oxygen and maintains humidity, making the air healthier to breathe.

Through this project, students have shown how natural air purification can be an effective solution to everyday pollution challenges. Their efforts highlight the importance of using sustainable methods to create a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
