Little Star Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur, felicitated the State Rank Holders of the School along with the Teachers on 26th July 2021 at the School Hall observing all the SOPs.
Five Rank Holders from Class 10 and two Rank Holders of Class 12, including Ohiduz Zaman, the First Rank Holder in Science Stream of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate and Pungbale Rangkhau, the State Female Topper in Science Stream and the Topper among Nagas in the Science Stream.
The Program started with invocation from Miss Ruphes Sakhrie, the Hr. Secondary Science Stream Supervisor, The Chairman, Madam Nini Sekhose welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Madam Christina Neikhrienuo gave a powerpoint presentation on the summary of the results. She said that good results are always a collective effort of the entire faculty and the parents . Building a strong academic foundation starts from Pre school itself. So, not forgetting all the other teachers who have contributed to this result behind the scenes. The school was happy to see the hostellers in the top and 80%+ list. She congratulated and thanked all the matrons, wardens and Hostel Superintendent for guiding the hostellers so well. She thanked the wonderful dedicated team of class 10 and 12 teachers. She acknowledged how they had worked so tirelessly with such determination and ambition no matter what challenges we faced last year. She said the teachers readily and willing took up the tough transition from offline to online and guidance classes. Though the sudden change was not easy, the teachers became computer savvy overnight. Their willingness to learn is what pushed the school and students forward. She congratulated all the successful students once again.
Out of seven Rank Holders, three Rank holders spoke on the occasion, namely, Ohiduz Zaman, Nonya Konyak and Pungbale Rangkau. Pungbale reminisced about the ten wonderful years she had spent in the school.
The Director Sir Vihutuo spoke about the joy of teaching this outgoing batch. They were like sponges absorbing every bit of information. He had come to know and love every one of them and congratulated them for their excellent results. He did not just see them as toppers in their fields but he saw them as children with inquisitive minds, beautiful personalities who were not afraid even to advise him at times when he asked for it.

Ohiduz Zaman was felicitated for achieving the Number One position in Science stream. He was also the State Topper in Computer Science. For the first time in the history of the Board, the State Topper got 100 in Computer Science in Class 12. The School gave him a cash award of Rs. 25,000/-. His overall percentage was 96%.
Pungbale Rangkau, the 4th Rank in Science Stream is also the State Girl Topper and the Topper among Nagas in the Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate, Science Stream. Her overall percentage was 94%. She is the Female State Topper and the Naga Topper in Science Stream. She was awarded Rs. 15,000/- by the school.

The formula for calculating physical damage received is as follow:
Damage Received = Damage dealt by enemy * 120/(120 * Physical Defense)
Lets use some symbols.
Let y = Damage Received
x = Physical Defense
And let damage dealt by enemy = 100.
Therefore, the above equation becomes
y = 100 * 120/(120+x)
Below, we have the graph of the above equation and some sample values of x and y in the table
From the table above we see that at x=50, ie. defense 50 we will receive 70.5 damage if enemy does 100 damage. So we receive only around 70% of the total damage dealt when our physical defense is 50
At x=120, ie defense 120, we receive exactly half (50%) of the damage dealt.
We can see here that increasing x gives us diminishing returns
So as you have more armor, buying even more armor results in lesser returns.
We are interested to see how damage received (y) changes as we increase armor (x)
Derivatives will give us that information
Our equation is :
y = 100 * 120/(120+x)
By using quotient rule we find its derivative which is
y’ = -100*120/(120+x)2
The -ve sign indicates that y (damage) decreases when x (armor) increases
For simplicity let us just write the eq without the -ve sign
y’ = 100*120/(120+x)2
The above equation tells us how y changes with respect to x.
The table of sample values and graph of the equation y’ = 100*120/(120+x)2 is below
From the table, we see that the rate of change of y at x=50 is 0.41 ie.,
at x (physical defense) = 50 each unit increase in x will give us 0.41 less damage (when 100 damage is dealt) . And at 120 physical defense each unit increase in physical defense will give us only 0.20 less dmg.
Thus we can easily see that at 120 physical defense buying more armor is half as efficient as buying armor at 50. And at 200 physical defense buying more armor is around quarter less efficient as buying armor at 50
The derivative gives us a clear picture how increasing physical defense/armor has diminishing returns
